The Devil's Bridge
Not far from Ardino rises the mysterious Devil's Bridge over the Arda River. One of the most mystical bridges in the Balkans.
The Legend
According to legend, the master builder had to create a bridge so strong that the devil himself could not destroy it.
To succeed, he carved a shadow in the shape of a devil's face in the middle arch, visible when the sun illuminates the water.
People believe the bridge is enchanted and protects against evil forces. They say that anyone who crosses it with bad intentions will be punished by the spirit of the bridge.
